To start any movement, you need leaders — people who put their hand up and say, “Yeah, this is a bit of me. I’m in. How can I help?”
That’s what the First 54 are: the first 54 dads in each country who want to help grow a movement that will reshape how many of us see and live fatherhood.
These dads will get the first 54 Outposts up and running. They’ll connect with other dads and invite them along. They are leaders. I’m not looking for perfect dads or even dads who are “awesome fathers” — just dads who show up, who are passionate, and who get shit done.
They’ll wear this badge under their Odyssey Arc because they are pioneers. I’m asking you to do something that hasn’t been done before — to enter the unknown — and to me, that takes a pioneer.
Every dad and kid who joins one of these first 54 Outposts will also wear the 54 badge, but with the Outpost type, e.g. Basecamp, Pathfinder, Expedition, or Frontier.
If you’re interested in being one of the 54, please fill in the Register Your Interest form at the bottom of the page and tell me a little bit about yourself. We’ll then have a quick Zoom call, and if you’re a good fit, we’ll get you set up to go.

This is a blue badge and is for the next wave of dads. There will be only one of these per state, territory, or province. So here in New Zealand, we’ll have one in the North Island and one in the South Island; in the USA, one in California, one in Texas; in Australia, one in Queensland, etc.
Each country will have the First 54 in red and orange, and the Second 54 as the next wave.
These first Outposts are essential — and I’ve called them Outposts for that reason. They’re the first in the wilderness, and from them, others will sprout.
